The Gun Commander training method utilizes Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger (SIRT) training guns, paired with Laser Activated Shot Reporter (LASR) target systems to provide a 100% safe environment to learn fundamental and advanced weapons handling skills. Practical Shooting Applications (PSA) Courses 1 - 4: This is a three-hour block of instruction designed to be taught in a four-part series of courses. PSA 1 will start with the fundamentals of firearms, and progress to draws, reloads, and malfunction drills. PSA 2 will pick up with moving, multiple threats, and one-handed shooting. PSA 3 continues with alternate shooting positions, and use of cover. The objective of these courses is to put all skills taught thus far to the test with a “police-style” practical pistol course (PPC). Therefore, PSA 4 will focus on the course of fire. PSA 1 & 2 will be followed up with two hours on the range, prior to taking PSA 3 & 4. PSA 3 & 4 will culminate with the live-fire PPC at the range.

Three-hour range session, guided by professional firearms instructors focusing on skill-building drills. Working from the holster, emergency action drills, and shooting while moving are some of the skills you'll work on. You will use your own gun in this workshop, and should bring approximately 200-300 rounds of ammo.

This four (4) hour course satisfies Maryland's requirement for the HQL, allowing you to purchase, rent, or receive a handgun. In this course you will learn MD firearm law, home firearm safety, and handgun mechanisms and operation. In addition to the basic state requirements, you will also begin to learn the fundamental skills necessary for safe firearms handling and marksmanship. This course ends with a live-fire practical exercise.

Initial applicants for the wear and carry permit (concealed carry) are required to receive 16 hours of instruction, and eight (8) hours for renewal applicants. In this course we will go over in depth, fundamental gun handling skills, weapon retention, drawing and shooting from a cover garment, cover vs. concealment, shooting while moving, types of concealment holsters, and much more. Equally important as HOW to shoot, you will learn WHEN to shoot. This class teaches you the critical thinking skills necessary to make timely and appropriate use of force decisions. In addition to classroom instruction, applicants are required to shoot a 25 round course of fire with a minimum score of 70%.
